Prior to joining HT Capital Advisors, Mr. Slackman was the Founding President of Commerce Bank in New York. Starting with two de novo branches in 2001, Mr. Slackman grew Commerce organically to over $8 billion in assets in seven years, and created a brand that has become a household name in New York, and within the banking industry has become known for its unique positioning. Commerce has gained significant representation in the consumer, small business, middle market, non-profit and corporate markets.

Before starting Commerce Bank, Mr. Slackman served over thirty years in the banking industry in both thrift and commercial banking, and he was also an officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Currently, Mr. Slackman is also Lead Independent Director of Asta Funding, a publicly traded finance company.

Mr. Slackman holds a BA degree in economics from Queens College of the City University of New York, and an MA in Economics from the Graduate Faculty of the New School University. Mr. Slackman is very active in non-profit activities and has been honored by several organizations for his work in that area. Mr. Slackman is a US Army veteran.
