Prior to
joining HT
Capital Advisors, Mr. Burkhardt was a general investment banker for
over ten years with Janney Montgomery Scott, the investment banking
subsidiary of Penn Mutual Life. He began his career as a financial
analyst with Aetna Life and Casualty's Private Placement Financing
Department and subsequently was elected an officer and became manager
of Aetna's Corporate Development Department which deployed over $500
million into various acquisitions. His corporate experience also
includes three years as Director of CBS' Acquisition Department, where
he was also involved with venture capital and strategic alliance
activities. Previously he was with Deloitte Touche's
Corporate Finance Group, where he was responsible for
merger/acquisition and valuation services.
Mr. Burkhardt has been involved with a full-range of corporate finance
activity as investment banker and corporate executive. He has been
responsible for over 50 debt and equity public offerings and private
placements, and merger and acquisition transactions in a wide range of
product, service and distribution industries, primarily for middle
market companies. In addition, he has extensive experience rendering
corporate valuations, including over 25 fairness opinions in connection
with "going private" transactions. Mr. Burkhardt has
also had extensive experience advising privately owned companies in
several consolidating industries, including the wholesale electrical
distribution industry and various segments of the healthcare, food and
beverage, packaging, and building product industries.
Representative transactions include: the acquisition of two major
California ambulance companies - Goodhew and Crippen - as a
"package" by LaidLaw, Inc.; the acquisitions of Ideal
Toy and Blackhawk Cable by CBS, National Health Industries by Senior
Service Corporation and Aercology Inc. by The Donaldson Company; the
initial public offerings of American Fructose Corporation, Schult
Homes, and GoodMark Foods; the public rights offering of Instrument
Systems Corporation; the private placement financings of Wehran
Envirotech and Bay Pacific Health Plan and the fairness opinion in
connection with Sensormatic Electronics acquisition of
American Dynamics.
Mr. Burkhardt holds an A.B. from Brown University, an M.B.A. from
Columbia University Graduate School of Business and an L.L.B from Duke
University School of Law, and is a U.S. Army Veteran.
